01 / The licence
The AGPL-3.0 in plain words
You may
- read and review the code,
- run Kammzeit for your salon, including commercially,
- change the code and pass it on.
There are no licence fees.
If you pass it on
- it stays under the AGPL-3.0,
- the source code goes with it,
- copyright and licence notices stay in,
- you mark what you have changed.
Running it as a network service
This is the difference from the GPL: if you have changed the code and let others use it over a network, such as customers on your booking page, you must offer them the source code of your version. A link to your public repository is enough.
If you run Kammzeit unchanged, there is nothing more to do.
Good to know: your own legal texts in web/legal.html count as a change too. The easiest way is to keep your version as a public fork on GitHub and link to it in the footer of your site. The licence covers the code. Your data and content, such as appointments, customers, texts and prices, are not affected by it.
This is a summary. The binding text is the AGPL-3.0 licence, which is also included in the repository as the file LICENSE.

Self-hosted, Kammzeit runs in single-salon mode: exactly one salon, with booking page and dashboard on one domain.
03 / Self-hosting
On your own server in five steps
- Server and domain. A Linux server with systemd, ports 80 and 443 open, a domain with an A or AAAA record pointing to the server and an SMTP account for emails.
- Adapt the legal texts and build. Replace the imprint and privacy policy in
web/legal.htmlwith your own, then build with Go. The result is a single file that contains everything. - Install. Create a dedicated system user, copy the file to
/usr/local/binand add the systemd unit fromdeploy/./etc/kammzeit.envholdsKAMMZEIT_SINGLE_TENANT=1, your address, the path to the database and the SMTP details. - Put Caddy in front. Three lines in the Caddyfile. Caddy gets the certificate by itself and redirects to HTTPS.
- Set up and back up. Open
/registrieren, create your salon and log in with the link from the email. Add a daily backup of the database withsqlite3 .backupusing a systemd timer.

Found a bug
Open an issue on GitHub. It helps to include the steps to reproduce it, what you expected and what happened instead. English or German, both are fine.
Contribute code
Pull requests are welcome. For bigger changes, open an issue first so we can agree on the approach. Kammzeit is deliberately simple: Go with the standard library, SQLite, few dependencies, no JavaScript framework. Contributions are published under the same licence.
